Geodesic Dome

 INTENTION       RULES ACTOR SITES ACT PRODUCT

INTENTION 

 Intention on constructing a strength geodesic dome which can withstand the weather. To make the dome more comfortable and efficient. Make the dome more economically available to a greater number of people.

RULES 

 Preferable to be created by using recycle and materials by transforming them into useful and reliable products and services. The dome should be withstand the following due to its stability, strength and weather. The strength and capability on shelter from weather also will be tested.

ACTOR

Construction management

- Are responsible for running all or part of a construction site.

- Is the overall planning, coordination or control of a project from beginning to completion.

Construction management is aimed at meeting a client’s requirement in order to produce a functionally viable project.

Architect 

- Work in the construction and are involved with designing new buildings, extensions or alterations to existing buildings or advising on the restoration and conservation of old properties.

- Work closely with their clients and uses to make sure that projected designs match their needs and functional, safe and economical. They usually control a project from start to the end and work with a number of construction professional, including surveyors and engineer, producing drawings and specification.

Quantity surveyor 

- Is a professional working within the construction industry concerned with construction costs and contracts.

- Managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from the initial calculation to the final figures. They are involved in a project from the start, preparing estimates and the cost of the work.

Interior designer

- Is involved in the design or renovation of internal spaces, including structural alteration, furnishings, fixture and fittings, lighting and colour schemes. Interior and spatial designers work in a range of different  commercial or domestic settings.

Referee

- It is the individual to which the group relates or aspires to relate himself or herself psychologically. It becomes the individual’s frame or reference and source for ordering his or her experiences.

- People whose attitudes, behavior, beliefs, opinion, preferences and values are used by an individuals as the basic for his or her judgment. One does not have to be a member of a referee group to be negatively or positively influenced by its characteristics.

SITES 

 Convocation area

- Gathering place for the graduates before entering the hall and it was lent to the construction testing of the dome.

ACT

- Find a good bamboo.

- Cut it into a similar length of them.

- Wrap the bamboo with the newspaper, for safety.

- Form a small triangle using the bamboo sticks.

- Joint the triangle together and tie up with jute rope using the 8 triangle.

- Using the same method on second layer.

- Lastly, using a recycle banner, put it on top of the dome. This function like a roof for protect anything inside the dome.

                  

PRODUCT 

The product is Geodesic Dome. Its mostly looks like igloo.

Throughout the project on constructing the geodesic dome, the students are introduced to the structure of a geodesic dome. Apart from that, the students also learnt to follow the directions and are expected to meet a time and duration on completing the projects. The geodesic dome requires a strategic and stable structure in order to withstand the weather. While the project is on, the shapes with different strength and capability has been observed. Besides, the structure performance also been studied while conducting the geodesic dome.
